History of San Miguel De Allende Mexico by Remy Na

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico is a town that is rich in history and culture, and is steeped in tradition. The entire town has been designated a national monument. San Miguel is around four hundred and fifty years old, and plays an important role in the history of the entire country. In the year 1542, Fray Juan de San Miguel started a mission in the Chichimeca area, and became known as San Miguel de los Chichimecas at first. Eventually the name of the town that sprang up around the original mission was changed to San Miguel el Grande, so that it was not confused with other cities and towns named San Miguel.

The conspiracies which resulted in the Independence of Mexico was started in this town, by Ignacio Allende and Father Hidalgo, who happened to be the parish priest from the town Dolores Hidalgo nearby. Both these men were born in Mexico to Spanish parents, which made them creoles and considered second class to pure Spaniards born in Spain. This ignited the war which followed. After the town was given city status by the government of Guanajuato, the name of the town was changed to San Miguel de Allende to honor the hero of the Mexican Independence, who was born in the town.

San Miguel de Allende today is still very much a quaint town with many historical sites, buildings, and locations to see and visit. The entire town is a national monument designated as such by the Mexican government,, and is protected to keep the history and culture of the area unchanged and preserved. Many foreigners retire here or visit on vacation, because the weather is perfect almost every day of the year and the climate is warm all the time. There is a museum in town that still contains weapons, letters and notes, and other historical items that were used or written by Ignacio Allende. There is a restaurant that serves meals and drinks on a patio that once was part of a church in the past. There are homes that date back more than one hundred years, a town square that is still used every day, and many historic places to see for anyone interested in the past of this fabulous vacation spot. Some lodging houses and bed and breakfast establishments are located in antique homes in colonial and other historical styles, and buildings designated as historical have restrictions placed on what renovations and changes can be made to keep this history.

In the early nineteen fifties, a mineral spring named La Gruta was discovered, and this spring has proven healing qualities. This discovery turned the town of San Miguel de Allende into a popular tourist destination. San Miguel de Allende is a fascinating place to visit or retire to. The beautiful scenery and countryside, friendly people and warm hospitality, large number of variety and attractions, and the rich history and traditions make this location one that is simply the perfect choice for a trip back to the past while enjoying the present.

Reasons To Buy Real Estate In San Miguel De Allende by Remy Na

There are many reasons that retirees and visitors choose to buy real estate in San Miguel de Allende Mexico. The price of land and homes is one of the top reasons that this town is a great retirement location to live in. Buying a home in San Miguel means only paying about twenty percent of what you would pay for comparable housing in the United States. This means that you can afford five times the house, or choose a more modest home and have plenty of savings left.

There are five different types of property in San Miguel, and these are classified as Federal, Restricted, Edijo, Unrestricted, and Historic. Federal land can not be owned by any individual, as it is government land, and this is land that spans from the high tide line to cover the entire beaches. No beach is privately owned. This means visitors and locals are free to take walks on any beach found. Property taxes in Mexico are much cheaper than they are in America, so the yearly cost of owning your home or property is a lot less.

Many people move to San Miguel to enjoy great weather all year long, with none of the problems and medical conditions caused by living in the cold weather. Beautiful cloudy blue skies and plenty of sunshine mean that you can enjoy the outdoors and amazing scenery almost every day of the year. The mountains in the background are great for hiking and exploring, and there is a wide variety of native plants, flowers, and animals to enjoy. Bird watching is a popular pastime, and reason that travelers visit the town from other places. Living in Mexico is not a complicated process, and if you buy unrestricted property there are no restrictions or limitations, unlike restricted property which must be held in a trust if the owner is not a Mexican national. San Miguel has a lot of beauty to offer, with fabulous sunsets that leave the sky dripping with vivid colors, beautiful sand beaches and ocean views, historic architecture that is amazing and exquisite and even quaint cobblestone streets.

There is so much to do in San Miguel that retirees will never get bored. There are many shops and boutiques to browse through, restaurants serving fine food and local cuisine, festivals that occur frequently through the year, horseback riding, walks along the beach, and just relaxing poolside. Domestic help is very inexpensive, and with the savings you will see in housing and living costs having a maid, a cook, or a gardener is very affordable. This gives retirees more time to enjoy all that San Miguel has to offer, and less time needed for ordinary house chores and maintenance. A couple can live very comfortably, including having a maid, for around thirteen hundred dollars a month, and buying a home in Mexico can solve the problem of a retirement income that does not allow comfortable living in the U.S. because of high costs.

Getting The Best Travel Deals by Steve Gillman

Would you like to get the best travel deals available? Then get ready to be open-minded and flexible. Consider going to any one of several destinations, and going at different times than you may have originally planned on, and even doing different things once you get there.

Flexibility Buys The Best Travel Deals

Almost any travel destination has "seasons" which are more crowded and therefore more expensive. Also, airfare varies widely in price from month to month and even according to the day of the week or time of day. Finally, there many activities which may be marginally more entertaining yet cost much more.

Suppose you go on trips to several destinations over the years, using the usual strategy of "I want to go here now and do these things." On some of these trips you'll be at the height of the season, meaning it will be expensive for hotels. Airfare will cost a lot if you happen to choose the expensive days and times. With a fixed idea about your activities, you'll also likely pay more than you need to have a great time. You'll miss out on some real fun that could be much cheaper.

On the other hand, what if you go somewhere during the off-season, go on the day that has the cheapest plane tickets, and start with the interesting activities that cost less? Perhaps you spend just half as much on average, even though over those years you go to all the same destinations. The savings could mean even more opportunities to travel because of the money saved.

Years ago I went to Ecuador because it was an inexpensive destination. The February departure was chosen because I found plane tickets for $258 round trip from Miami. And though I hadn't considered taking a tour to Mount Cotopaxi, I discovered that I could do that day-long trip to walk on the glaciers of a volcano for just $15, so I went. You create your own best travel deals if you are flexible and open minded.

Best Travel Deals - The Formula

Try this simple formula for getting the best travel deals:

1. Watch a few travel programs, read some travel magazines, and make a list of six to ten places you might like to visit eventually.

2. Look for the best time to go to each. This means when it would be interesting for you and cheaper than other times - an "off-season" that is still a good time for you to visit.

3. Gather information online. How much will hotels and meals cost? What is there to do and how much you are likely to spend on each of these activities. Take notes, of course.

4. Do an online search for plane tickets before you are ready to start planning. Experiment with different days of the week for departure and return flights to find the cheapest possibilities. This can change, so you'll be doing this again when you are ready to actually start specific planning. For now you just want an idea of the days that are likely the cheapest.

5. When it's time to travel, pick from among your listed destinations that are off-season and search all the possible dates you might travel, to find the cheapest airfare. Actually it's best to do this before you arrange for time off work, so you can take advantage of the best possible travel dates.

6. Purchase your tickets, do some more research, and start packing and planning.

Here's another tip for getting the best travel deals: Book a hotel only for the day you arrive, and then find your hotels(s) once there. There are many nice, less expensive hotels that you won't find online, and in our experience, even good package deals are never as cheap as finding your own hotels once you get there, as long as you are not coming there at a busy time. Doing this also allows you more freedom, so you can change your plans as you go, taking advantage of whatever great deals come up.

Dominican Republic Tamed Waters by Enid Glasgow

Like weather, the behavior of the ocean is dependant on locations. While Florida's is known as seduced, though at times thrashing, the Pacific is much cooler and gives birth to prolific waves. In the Dominican Republic, the ocean weds rolling waters, warmth, and a surreal shade of blue, but is not to be trusted.

If there is one piece of advice to heed when vacationing in the Dominican, it is to handle the ocean with kid's gloves; it may resemble what you're familiar to at home, but the standards of safety out in the Caribbean are of great difference.

Depending on where you stay, the conditions of the waters will vary and any signifiers of potential danger may be few and far between. While some properties are not as mindful of this, a carefully selected Dominican Republic resort just might be the difference between apprehension and ease.

Taking a discriminating approach to choosing your Dominican Republic luxury hotel will give you the freedom to comb the beaches and wade the waters, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the Caribbean you traveled all that way to experience.

Some measures to consider when exploring unattended waters:

- Ask someone, anyone, about the ocean conditions each and every day you visit. - Inquire about any safety devices or services you think you may need from your hotel's concierge. - Survey the waters and if you see someone venturing into unruly conditions, stop them.

Keeping these in mind, but not allowing them to dictate your vacation will ultimately offer the Dominican Republic the way it's meant to be experienced, as a breezy Caribbean sanctuary.

How to Make a Mamajuana by Enid Glasgow

Some fancy it, others resent its rather mysterious existence; Mamajuana, a drink with a strange consistency, is the Dominican Republic's beverage of choice and a requirement of all who visit, a right of passage if you will. This indigenous drink was long-touted as an aphrodisiac for men, but when the ingredients are listed off, it is easy for one to wonder how this cocktail could possibly arouse anything other than stomach cramps.

It's a blend of twigs, bark, herbs, rum, red wine, and honey. Maybe the alcohol could counter-balance the three misplace elements that seemingly belong in a bag of mulch instead of a drink? You'll only know when you visit the Dominican Republic and try it for yourself.

If you're not slated to spend some time in the country or one of its luxury Dominican Republic hotels, you can always make a DIY solution out of the problem and tackle it yourself. It may require a couple of batches to find your mix, but you'll never know right from wrong unless you sample it on vacation.

- Begin by soaking roots and twigs in rum, red wine, or both, for 3 to 14 days. - Discard the liquid, following, then refill with an equal amount of rum, red wine, and honey. - Note: You can opt to omit the red wine (if you prefer something a little more approachable) - Assign whatever proportions you desire and shake everything up.

More often than not, your first time will be a bit confusing, but once you find your perfect mixture, you'll be making Mamajuana's for your friends and family.
