A trip to extended stay motels by Jane Landow

I want to let you know about extended stay motels. They eliminate the need for finding an apartment or more permanent residence. All of your needs are fulfilled at most extended stay lodging, you might not think so but it’s just as good at the discount motels.

During my career I have lived in a long term hotel very frequently because of my company being located all across the country. My company credit card takes care of most of the fees, although there are a lot of extended stay motels that are good cheap discount motels. On a recent trip I was in Los Angeles at an Extended Stay America Hotel. We were there for two weeks and their policy stated that I could bring a pet, which I will have to do next time. The wifi connection had a quick download time. A month ago, my extended stay lodging was in Studio 6 in Texas. A co-worker and my boss lived there for five weeks and they had been treated very good. The workout room and hot tub were excellent. What I think is the best extended stay hotel is the Residence Inn Marriot. I lived in it more than five occasions during my business trips and it has always been a very comfortable stay. They have very fine dining room for a long term hotel, and the deserts are some of the most delicious I have eaten.

A difficulty I have noticed at extended stay motels is that the eating spaces are not well equipped. I like to take some good knives and my own dish soap. Some of the discounts motels have mini refrigerators that are too small to stock much food in. Oatmeal is the easiest food to bring as long as there is a kettle. You should pack some dish towels just in case the discount motel only has bath towels. Most extended stay lodging well equipped with basic kitchen needs. If you would like to read more about the extended stay motels that I frequently enjoy, send me a message. It may seem hard to reserve a long term hotel because many of them do not have online reservations. Don’t give up hope. I think before long you will find an extended stay hotel that fits all of your needs.

Things to keep in mind for last minute holiday by Simon Johnson

Unexpected holiday plans can spring anytime and for any reasons and often such last minute situations can lead to confusion and travel goof ups. Last minute traveling can be little complicated to handle especially when there is so much to do and you have no idea where to begin or what to do.

Following are some of the key pointers you should keep in mind when planning a last minute holiday or when getting ready for that last minute travel:

Choose the destination

If this is some sudden plan of going out with the family for a day or two or if it's some random idea of spending time with friends away from the rush of your city, always decide on a destination or a city before packing those heavy bags of yours. The best way is to either come with a common favorite place or call up friends or family members who might be able to come up with great holiday spot ideas. Another way is to decide is to consider factors like budget and time.

Find the cheaper airlines or hotels

Last minute travel can also be result of emergency or difficult to avoid circumstances leaving no time to plan a budget or to search for the most affordable way to travel or stay. At such situation, the best thing that could be done is to find cheaper online deals for airlines and hotel reservations. Internet is full of such last minute deals and can prove to be a good idea at such status of your travel.

Even the last minute holiday based on urgent account of affairs can be made suitable to one's pocket by such deals. It is advisable to discuss the matter with any friend or family member who might have idea on affordable traveling ideas or might have any such experience.

Start the holiday one day in advance

It is always a good idea to mark the beginning of a holiday a day in advance, a day when you can sit think, plan and shop. A day in advance means lots of time and less of confusion especially if its one of those last minute holiday plans.

Make a list

For everything you plan, wish to do and still have to do make a list. By penning down every little thing you get to have a clear idea on what's been done and what's still not done, also it saves you from asking yourself 'am I forgetting something?', when you board your plane or train.

List making technique also helps in checking everything twice and ensures that you have planned it all.

Reach not on time, but before time

This is one of the important tips to follow when planning or getting ready for last minute holiday. Reaching the airport or station much before the time saves you from unexpected incidents that might delay you and gives you sometime to sit and think. Often, last minute holiday or last minute traveling makes you forget things you might have wanted to take with you or things you simply forgot to pick, with early arrival at your airport or station you get enough time to drive back, in case you have to. Also, reaching before time helps to unwind the trouble and lets you begin your journey with peace.

Camping Holiday UK - Visiting the Great Giant Causeway. by Sean Revell

The Giant's Causeway is a mystical and magical place based on the North East coast of Northern Ireland. World renowned, the causeway was deservedly awarded a World Heritage site designation in 1986 and the only one in Northern Ireland. The first time I saw the North Atlantic waves crashing against basalt the hairs on the back of my neck rose and I knew that I was going to have a holiday to remember. The raw power of the waves are awe inspiring, the Causeways beauty captivating.

The Causeway is a spectacular coastal landscape, jagged cliffs, isolated bays and outstanding views. But take another look and a whole different world can be shown before your eyes, ruins, wells and shoreline fields show the harder side of life in fishing and farmer by past generations. These are views you will never forget.

The Causeway forms a rugged headland of 40,000 tightly packed columns that visitors can walk along, by the edge of the sea. This headland is the result of a volcanic eruption over 60 million years ago, where the magma has cooled the polygonal columns remain. The mesmerizing patterns left in the stones were formed by rock crystallization under severe accelerated freezing (like what happens in more modern times in Hawaii). Thanks to the views and the eruption the Causeway has attracted visitors from around the world for centuries. The site became a favourite with tourists in the 19th century, especially after the Causeway Tramway was introduced.

The Causeway Coast and Glens offer a large variety of options when it comes to accommodation. There are local hostels, hotels and cottages to stay in but if you really want to sample the atmosphere and get in touch with nature at its purest then I'd advise you to stay at a campsite.

Taking A Look At California's Tourist Attractions by Mike Selvon

For family vacations, one of the perpetual favorite places to go to is the vast and diverse state of California. This state is always on the top of family fun spots because there are so many places to go, and so much to see and do. California has tourist attractions that appeal to all different ages and preferences, and as a bonus, the weather is usually quite nice throughout the year.

No matter whether the family is interested in activities in the cities of California and the big theme parks that are so plentiful, or they are more inclined to enjoy the breathtaking mountains, the lush and ancient forests, or the miles and miles of beautiful beaches, there is no doubt that there are enough attractions to provide many options. In fact, vacationing in California will probably mean that there will be much more to see than most families will have time to visit, so there's not much chance of boredom being a problem during a family vacation in this state.

When most people first think about California tourist attractions, they think of the popular destinations like Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World, Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. But, there are many lesser known sights and diversions that might even be considered a bit quirky.

For instance, one of the attractions near San Francisco, which is gaining a surprising following, is the Museum of Pez Memorabilia. Yes, that's right; the little Pez candy dispenser everyone remembers from their youth has been honored with its very own museum. The museum contains not only the officially released Pez dispensers made by the company itself, but also features a collection of some "fantasy Pez dispensers" that have been produced by an "underground" market.

Including some of these off-the-beaten paths, quirky kinds of attractions in the family vacation plans will help make the overall trip even more memorable and fun as well. It's probably a good bet that your child will be the only one in their class to report that they visited the Pez museum during their vacation travel.

While in the San Francisco area, there are many wonderful sights that should not be missed. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world's most popular attractions, and for good reason. In addition, no visit to San Francisco should be considered complete without a stop by the historic and popular Fisherman's Wharf or Alcatraz.

Within a couple hours drive of the Bay Area, the Napa Valley awaits visitors with an array of tourist spots all its own. With vineyards to explore, wine tasting, fine gourmet restaurants to delight in, and plush boutique hotels to luxuriate in, it is no wonder why the quaint small towns of the Napa Valley are some of the most popular tourist destinations anywhere in the states.

One great way to maximize the travel budget for the family vacation is to spend some extra time seeking out discount vacation deals that include some tickets for the major tourist attractions where you are headed. Often families get to enjoy cheap vacations that give them some extra money to spend on buying souvenirs and seeing additional sights because of these package deals.

Cruises: The Newest Trend in Holidays and Breaks by Rakesh Gaikwad

When thinking of planning holiday breaks or school, here Pontins provides the packages for summer holidays, usually parents are often searching for something that would be great for the entire family. The top family destinations such as The Grand Canyon or Disney World may come to mind immediately but when thinking outside of the box, cruising becomes a very desirable vacation! Most parents wouldn’t think of cruises as a prime location because in the past, cruises have been mainly themed for adults or for college kids during their spring break. However, there are more and more family cruises becoming available as they become a huge trend , Pontin’s is also known for its valuable packages with providing family fun at relaxed pace for your holiday breaks. One of the biggest differences in family cruises is that there is always something planned for the family, or children to do that the family has the option of participating in. This allows the family to spend time together but not get bored with no activities planned. Even when you are not actively participating, family cruises have many things to offer. They almost always have a pool that is filled with kid-toys and is very kid-friendly. They also have many other activities including a game room, an arcade room, a media room, and other activities for the kids. All of the activity onboard the cruise will also allow parents the time to enjoy each other and the cruise without their children. The activities are always supervised and parents will be able to roam around the ship, play a hand at cards in one of the casinos, or enjoy a romantic date night in one of the wonderful restaurants onboard! Meet back up with the rest of the family to enjoy a wonderful game of bowling or skating! If you are thinking about taking a cruise for your school summer holidays, there are many to choose from but you must know what to look for when you are comparing cruise companies. Be sure to ask if it is a family cruise. The last thing you want on your family vacation is ending up on the same cruise as rowdy college kids away on their Spring Break! Ask what type of activities they have planned for the children, and for the adults, while staying on the ship. They should be able to name four activities each for both children and adults to ensure that your child, and yourselves will get bored while on the cruise. Also ask how many activities will be planned on-shore. Most often cruise ships won’t remain on the open sea the entire time that they are away for. Cruising into ports and touring different cities can add a lot to the quality of trip you end up with. It can also be a great learning opportunity for everybody. How many stops you will want to make depends on the length of your trip so keep this in mind when booking your holiday breaks. Also ask if the travel agency offers any package deals. Often groups such as families will qualify for a group discount, or a family discount. If the agency doesn’t provide any, find another agency that will. Not only are family packages very convenient but they are often an all-inclusive deal. This means that you pay the money before you go and then you’re not left worrying about change while aboard the cruise!

Zagreb : a budget travel destination by Paul scottyn

The capital of Croatia is a lesser-known gem of the budget travel world. Both picturesque and packed full of exciting pockets of cultural activity, on a practical level, Zagreb also has its fair share of excellent and excellently priced Zagreb hostels.

Old City

For daytime sightseeing and an experience of Zagreb's answer to the European café culture, tourists should take a trip to the Old City or Gornji Grad, or better still, stay in one of the many Zagreb hostels located there.

Fantastic architecture and ancient cobbled streets are a significant departure from the modern extravagance of the lower town's nightlife, and promises to provide the ideal head-clearing remedy for any morning-after ills.

There is a strong Italian influence in Zagreb, nowhere more so than in the Museum of Contemporary Art, which is one of many places in which visitors can soak up the country's history and cultural roots.

But for architectural grandeur, travelers need look no further than the impressive Cathedral of Zagreb, located in the hill district of Kaptol.

This spectacle is perhaps only outdone by the massive Medvedgrad Mountain, which offers excellent views of the city and access to the hidden Medvednica fortress.

Nightlife

The myriad of winding roads and alleyways offer the perfect atmosphere for lively nightlife activities and hideaways, and reassuringly Zagreb does not disappoint. The Donji Grad district offers backpackers no end of bars, reasonably priced restaurants and a huge selection of clubs. However, for the best access to nighttime activity, travelers should select Zagreb hostels in and around the Tkalciceva area, where collections of former aristocratic houses hidden in its enclaves have been transformed into stylish bars and clubs.

As with many nightlife hotspots, Tkalciceva is also an excellent place to people watch, attracting the most diverse of the city's local and visiting glitterati.

However, remember others will be doing this too, so it may not be the ideal place to stumble out of Zagreb hostels , bleary eyed, in the mornings.

There is also a good selection of festivals that take place in Zagreb, including Test! in March and Thirsty Ear in May.

Calpe Tourist Information by Gary Marshall

The Costa Blanca resort of Calpe is renowned for its excellent beaches, fine restaurants and, most of all, the enormous rock of Penon de Ifach. Due to its strategic coastal location, the town has a long and varied history. There is some evidence of early Iberian tribes in the area, but it was the Romans who established a thriving colony with an economy based on the production of dried fish. Between the 14th and 17th centuries Calpe was often subjected to pirate attacks, hence the strong defenses that were built during this time.

There are several historic sights within the old town, most notably the 15th century church which was converted from an earlier Moorish fortress. Interestingly, parts of the church are incorporated into the old town walls. Inside the church is a well-preserved painting on wood which dates from the 15th century. Next to the remains of a Roman fish factory is the Museum of Archaeology, which houses a number artifacts discovered in the local area. Also within the old town is the Festival Museum which displays historical costumes which have been worn during the town's fiestas. The most important of these fiestas is the Moors and Christian festival which takes each September.

Dominating Calpe is the 332-metre high rock, Penon de Ifach, which is one of the Costa Blanca's best known landmarks. If you are feeling fit you can hike to the top of the rock to enjoy the magnificent views. The whole area is now a nature reserve, attracting a variety of birds including peregrine falcons and marine ravens. An extremely rare wild orchid can also be found here. Close to the foot of the rock are salt flats which provide the ideal habitat for flocks of flamingoes and migratory birds. The Penon de Ifach, which is reminiscent of Gibraltar, has been strategically important since ancient times. Several interesting artifacts have been excavated from here, including Roman coins and fragments of Greek and Byzantine pottery.

Calpe has about 6 miles (7km) of coastline consisting of small coves, long stretches of golden sand and some high cliffs. The main beach in town is the 2km Playa Arenal-Bol which has been awarded a European Blue Flag. To the north is the Playa de la Fossa (also known as Playa Levante) which is separated from the Playa Arenal-Bol by the Penon de Ifach. Both of these beaches have clean, fine sand. Playa de la Fossa also boasts excellent facilities, including a children's play area, while alongside it runs the promenade of Paseo Infanta Cristina which has some good Spanish restaurants. This area also has plenty of cocktail bars which makes for a lively night-time scene.

Around the Penon de Ifach are several rocky coves, such as El Raco, Del Panyo and Playa Cantal Roig. There is also a small marina and fishing port, Puerto Pesquero, which has a sailing school, restaurants, bars and a daily fish market. It's possible to take glass-bottomed boat trips from here around the rock. This area is also popular amongst scuba diving due to the clear waters.

Summer Beach Tips to Keep Your Family Comfortable and Safe by Kirby Collins

When I was 16, it was June and we had just moved to Florida. I was so excited I could picture that golden tan I was going to get. I remember distinctly my father's words as we headed off to the beach with our towels and radio in search of the perfect tan. "Be careful this Florida sun is stronger than you're used to, you need to have something on with at least an SPF of 15 at all times, 30 is better but I'll be realistic, and reapply it often." We rolled our eyes as we left but took the bottle he held out to us. Guess what; it turns out he was right. The first time I was ever consciously aware of the heat from the Florida sun was years later. Fast forward to ten summers; I was on a plane heading home to Central Florida from New York, sitting in a window seat with my arm resting on the window 'sill'. I was wondering how much longer to Orlando when the pilot came on telling us to look out the window to see Cape Canaveral, it was also at that moment I noticed that my arm, still on the sill, had gotten considerably warmer. The truth is that much of Florida's climate is considered sub tropic so the sun is stronger here than the rest of most of America.

Here are some of the best tips to remember when headed to the beach this summer:

First of all follow a doctors advice - Use Sunscreen. They have everything from SPF 2 to SPF 60 but what does SPF mean and what does it do? SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is calculate in minutes - the number of minutes it takes unprotected skin to turn red compared to protected skin. You get 10 minutes for every number meaning an SPF of 2 gives you twenty minutes of protection in the sun before fair skin starts to turn red, if you have darker skin it varies.

Always make sure children are well covered, they have sunscreens made specifically for kids that now come in convenient sprays so you can get it on them quick and let their squirming bodies go play in the sand. For the rest of us protection still comes in lotions, oils and gels, there are even lighter versions for your face and ones that protect your skin from the UV rays too. When applying sun protection let common sense rule, reapply it after you've been swimming or if you've been sweating, like after playing volleyball. When you start to feel your skin getting hot cover up or it may even be time to go in. A good hat will also keep the sun off your face.

Another wonderful shade provider can be Umbrellas. They are popping up more and more on the beaches these days, they come in all shapes and sizes and are very useful in keeping the sun off of you. They are great for families with small children and for people who like being on the beach but don't want to get much, if any sun.

Beach chairs are also making a comeback, again in all shapes and sizes, some come with carrying cases and umbrellas attached, you can even get ones with cup holders and foot rests if you'd like to really stretch out without being in the sand. They have short ones that sit right in the surf sand and ones that are taller and better in the looser sand more up shore.

Many Florida beaches have lifeguards on duty, if you have small children with you it is recommended that you take advantage of this service and frequent these beaches. Lifeguards stations are dotted along the beaches and easy to spot because a lot of them are brightly colored. Lifeguards are trained in CPR, basic first ad and normally have a direct line to police and emergency services. What if you go to a beach that doesn't have a lifeguard and find yourself in an emergency situation? Fortunately in this day and age there are people with cell phones everywhere but you should always carry some small first aid kit with you or at least in your car and know where the nearest help is located.

Two of the most common emergencies on our beaches seem to be jellyfish stings and rip currents. You can tell when you've been stung by a jellyfish because the affected area will start to burn or will become itchy, it can turn red and may swell up or get bumpy. Seeking medical evaluation is preferable depending on the severity of the sting but if none is readily available there are things you can do. First of all remove all tentacles that you can see but be sure to protect yourself from getting stung while doing this, also don't rinse the area with fresh water, this may release more toxins and cause a further reaction on the area, use salt water or don't rinse at all. White vinegar will help decrease symptoms too, it is also recommended that the person be given either acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain, barring any allergies, always be sure to ask about allergies. Immobilize the area to keep the toxin from spreading and keep the person as still as possible. Have them sit or lie down until help arrives or help them to a waiting car for transport to further medical care.

Rip currents are, unfortunately, somewhat common in this area. Rip currents, simply defined are areas of water rushing back out to sea from the shore and are especially prevalent on windy days. The best way to free yourself from a rip current is to swim parallel to the shore. The worst thing you can do should you find yourself trapped in a rip current is panic, this uses up your breath and can cause you to drown. Remain calm and, if there is one near, try to get the attention of a lifeguard. If there is no lifeguard near swim along the shore until you feel the pull is gone, keeping in mind you can escape so try not to panic.

Ever go to a beach and see one of those little colored flags flying? Hopefully you have. These flags are meant to be a way for swimmers to know what, if anything, is going on in the water so even if you go to Florida beaches that doesn't have a lifeguard you can still be safe in the water. Here are the colors commonly used and what they generally mean:

Green - Conditions are favorable for swimming, low hazard Yellow - Medium Hazard Red - High Hazard Purple - Marine pests present Red Over Red - DANGER. Water closed to public use

When you get to the beach, if there is a hazard flag flying and a lifeguard nearby, you can ask for more details.

So go, enjoy the beach, and be safe out there.

Tarragona Tourist Information by Gary Marshall

Tarragona is the main city on the Costa Dorada and capital of the province which bears its name. This pleasant town boasts ancient ruins, fine beaches and some excellent museums. Tarragona's city centre can be divided into three main areas. The historic Old Town, Parte Alta, is situated within the city walls and is dominated by the cathedral. To the west is the busy New Town with the tree-lined Rambla Nova running through its centre, and lastly there is the marina and port area which is home to many bars, clubs and restaurants.

Tarragona was one of the most important towns in Spain during Roman times. The city has some significant Roman remains, most notably the amphitheatre near the seafront. This oval-shaped arena could accommodate around 14,000 spectators who would come to watch executions and gladiatorial contests. The church of Santa Maria del Miracle was built on the site during the sixth century. Close to the amphitheatre is the Romanitat Museum which incorporates the remains of the Roman Circus, as well as the Pretori (Governor's House), believed to be the birthplace of Pontius Pilate.

Linked to the Pretori is a modern building which houses the Archaeological Museum. This contains a collection of Roman artifacts including pottery, sculptures, tools and ceramics. The museum’s highlight is the well-preserved mosaic of the Medusa's head which has become a symbol of the city. Tarragona's cathedral was built in the 12th century on the site of a former Roman temple. It is notable for its impressive Gothic rose window and intricately carved altarpiece from the 15th century. The huge walls that surround the old town originally date back to pre-Roman times but have been significantly added to and improved over the centuries.

At the end of the Rambla Nova is the lookout point known as the Balco del Mediterrani, from which there are superb views out to sea. The Rambla Nova is the city's main shopping street with big-name Spanish chain stores situated here. There are also fountains, statues and monuments, including one dedicated to a local hero, Roger de Lluria, and another paying homage the Castellers (or human castles) for which the region is known. Beneath the Balco del Mediterrani is the main city beach, Platja del Miracle. There are two further beaches to the north-west, Arrabasada and Llarga, the latter being regarded as one of the best on this coast.

Tarragona has a variety of bars and restaurants depending on where you are in the city. Around the Placa del Font in the Old Town are tapas bars, pizzerias and smart restaurants, while the Rambla Nova has numerous cafes serving coffee and cakes. For seafood restaurants the best places are the port area or the Platja Llarga beach outside the city. If you are looking for nightlife, the bars and clubs around the marina are usually very popular, especially with a younger crowd.

Tarragona hosts several good markets throughout the week, including a bric-a-brac and antiques market on Sundays by the cathedral, and an indoor flea market every Tuesday and Thursday at Placa Corsini in the Old Town.

The Best Vacation You Have Ever Had by Kyle Widner

It is one of those moments that you will never forget – waking at the sound of the hull ripping through gentle wave, you look around your glamorous room, lavished with exquisite items reminiscent of the Five-Star hotels you have been to back in Los Angeles, you smell the sumptuous aroma of the breakfast you have ordered from the concierge. You start walking along the carpeted lobby towards the deck. Standing on the deck at dawn, feeling the cool breeze of the Atlantic winds brushing against your skin, watching the sunrise above the crystal blue blanket of the never-ending ocean and listening to the soft and gentle roar of the sea, you realize that this has been the best luxurious vacation you’ve been to.

Caroline had been waiting for this moment ever since she booked for this luxury tour weeks ago. And now she is enjoying a brief experience that she will remember for the rest of her entire life.

She is still on the deck, watching the whales do their peculiar dances, doing unusual back flips and tail-waving at the spectators in the ship deck. Although the ship has its maximum passengers on board, the crowd is not that big. “This is a plus,” Caroline thought. These premium cruises avoid large crowds as much as possible in order to provide optimum service and comfort for their passengers. “This is what a vacation really means: comfort and tranquility,” she added. She starts walking back to her suite to change into a swimwear as she planned to bask under the sun in one of the onboard pools of the ship.

Among the selection of available tours her consultant showed, she chose the premium tour to the Carribean Sea and chose the Azamara cruise line as her ship. The Azamara cruise line is on the most premium cruise there is. Its name, Azamara is derived from the Romance languages: az, which means blue and mar which refers to the sea. The name also has its origins from the name of a star, the Acamar. During Classical/Rennaissance period, the star Acamar was the brightest star in the southern hemisphere that are normally viewed from Greece. In this context, the Azamara Cruise line is so called as it represents a star in the sea.

There are 42 suites onboard the cruise line, including six penthouse suites measuring 560 square feet each. Caroline got one of these penthouse suites where she enjoyed complimentary welcome bottle of champagne on her arrival, and two nights of complimentary dining in any of the specialty restaurants onboard the ship. She plans to eat in one of those fine-dining with the Italian theme at dinner. But for now, she will first relax in the pool side to set the moods up for tonight.

After the relaxing dip and a satisfactory tan, Caroline went to the restaurants and had a light lunch complemented with free tastes to premium wines available on deck. She went to the casino afterwards just to relax.

These premium cruise lines offer several amenities to make sure that their traveler’s get the most out of their vacation. These include spas, health clubs, pools, several dining options to choose from and restaurants, intimate lounges for couples, entertainment, children's programs, casinos and more, but in addition, they also offer a premium experience: featuring more sophisticated and magnificent dining experiences, amenities and service. Caroline enjoyed having someone always available to answer her queries with a smile.

Night has fallen. She went outside to gaze upon the bright twinkling of the stars above. She had never seen so many stars in her entire life back in her busy life in the metropolitan. After all that star gazing and light chat with the other passengers on deck, she went to the Italian restaurant she planned to dine at. And she was amazed on how the food taste and how the ambience was put to life by an onboard entertainment.

Back at the comfort of her own suite, she tries to catch her sleep while watching shows on her flat screen television. She felt tired, but also thankful that these types of luxury travels are within people’s reach. Tomorrow, she plans on relaxing on some of the spas and winning that jackpot on the casino.

Promoting Travel Online Using Videos Of Real People by Steve Hill

Promoting a travel website is not difficult by any means, but the success that your website receives relates highly to the type of promotion that you are doing. Let's take video promotion as an example. If you are promoting a travel website then the best way to show people what you have to offer is to give them the ability to actually see for themselves. Using videos to promote your travel website is an excellent marketing technique that can prove to be very advantageous.

Using videos of real people to show others a specific area, hotel or other travel aspect will give your visitors the information that they are searching for in a way that they will not forget. Imagine if you were considering a vacation destination for your family.

Now imagine that the website you visited offered nothing more than a written explanation of the beautiful sunsets on the beach and the raging waterfalls, not to mention a few pictures of the hotels that surround the area.

Now, imagine another website that offers wonderful videos with real families enjoying the destination that you have chosen. Imagine having the ability to see children laughing with their parents and enjoying the beach. Imagine seeing video footage of the hotel rooms so that you can actually visualize yourself staying in one of these beautiful rooms. Do you see the difference in the two websites? Of course you do. The simple truth is that people want to connect on a more personal level with their chosen websites. When someone visits your site they want to feel a personal connection with you and with the area that you are promoting. If you are using your site to promote hotels, then your visitors want to connect with those hotels and they want to be able to visualize themselves staying there.

They do not want to be told what the hotel offers they want to see it for themselves. The same rings true for activities. If your site is dedicated to a specific area such as a particular city or beach, then you need to offer your visitors video of real people enjoying the area. You need to show them videos of amazing concerts and shows that are seen in the area as well as people enjoying these shows. The absolute best way to sell someone on a product is to allow them to visualize themselves using that product.

The best way to sell someone on a destination is to allow them to visualize themselves actually visiting that destination, and in order to do this you must be prepared to employ a video presentation on your website that will allow your visitors the ability to actually see themselves visiting this area. No matter what aspect of the travel industry you are promoting, whether you promote hotels, destinations, airlines, rental cars or any other aspect, you should understand that the average consumer wants to be interested in the websites that they visit.

In order to interest your target audience you must employ multimedia marketing techniques. Simple words and pictures are no longer sufficient. If you really want to keep up with the current marketing trends and want your website to be successful then you must be ready to move with the current flow. The current flow offers website visitors video featuring real people to peak their interest and give them the information that they are seeking in a captivating way. Are you ready to roll with the flow? Video is the marketing technique of the future. If you are not offering your visitors video then they are likely finding it somewhere else.

Travel Tips: To Check-In or Carry-On Luggage? by Casey Phillips

I am always going on business trips for work. The one thing I cannot travel without is my trusty laptop. As much as I love my MacBook, it is always an annoyance having to put the laptop through security, carry it with me around the airport, and finally, get it, along with myself, onto the plane. Normally it is not a question for me; I always bring my laptop as a carry-on. However, on my most recent business trip I decided that because I was not planning to do any computer work on the plane, there was no reason to carry it with me. I regrettably checked it in with the rest of my luggage. This was the worst mistake I could have made. For a seasoned business traveler, this may seem like a blunder only a novice would make. However, sometimes we all need a little reminding. I hope by relaying my story, I can save you from making the same mistake I did. A laptop is an extremely valuable portable device. Whether you are in the office or on the go, it can quickly provide you with access to important data, information, and software. However, it is for these same reasons that laptops are of great interest to thieves, and, consequently, highly vulnerable to theft. In fact, the Safeware Insurance Group reported that in the US, laptop owners have a 1 in 14 chance that their laptop will be stolen. Of course, I am aware that laptops are a prime target for theft, but I thought it would be perfectly safe in my suitcase. I could not have been more wrong. Just because it was packed amongst my business suits and collared shirts did not mean it was protected. The fact is that you really must be aware of where your laptop is at all times, and, if it is checked in with the rest of your luggage, you are violating this simple rule. You have absolutely no idea who may be handling it or where it may end up. By naively deciding to check my laptop along with the rest of my luggage, I was in a sense setting myself up for it to be taken. What is more, the scariest part about having your laptop stolen is the fact that your confidential data inside is now accessible to a thief. Who knows the intentions of a thief? Needless to say, once I discovered my laptop had been taken, I was scared.

I know it may seem like a big hassle having to unload your laptop just to make it through security, but I promise you this: unloading your laptop at the security gate in an airline is only a minor inconvenience in comparison to the trouble that comes with a stolen laptop.

Filing a police report, working without your important files, and worrying someone may be committing identity theft with your personal information are inconveniences to avoid at all costs. What is the easy solution? Get a computer case. I recently purchased an excellent computer case that not only securely holds my laptop, but also has room to store the other essential carry-on items I need during the flight. I love it because in addition to being very compact and portable, it is also quite fashionable. Having a computer case lets me check-in my one piece of luggage worry-free because I know my laptop is safe and secure by my side. Still, even when you make the safe choice and carry your laptop onto the plane, there are a few things to be aware of while traveling. Make sure and keep a close eye on your laptop while it is on the conveyer belt at the security gate - and don't forget to pick it up again after it has passed through security. Finally, keep your laptop near you on the plane - at your feet or in a locked case stowed away in the overhead compartments - and be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Travel Planner- Getting Started: Quick Tips for the Hip Trip by Dianne Birney

So you want to go on a super fantastic, life changing hip trip. I am talking about some holiday! Here are some quick tips to get you started.

The hardest step in this process is to make up your mind to go. The rest of the planning is just a series of mini steps in the right direction. So, are you ready? Is your mind made up? Yes? Good, then get ready to take some mini steps! No? Good, then get ready to take some mini steps anyway. Once you have planned the hippest of trips, you may ready to commit!

In planning your trip you only have to answer the five questions: Why, Who, Where, When and How.

Why Travel

Let's start with the why. This is a philosophical question and whatever your answer, it will reflect your life values. Some people look at travel as a luxury, some as an education and some as a necessity to feed the soul.

How do you see travel in relation to your life values? Is your purpose to:

-connect with family and friends?
-rest and recuperate from a stressful life?
-explore and adventure?
-challenge your physical and mental prowess?
-develop your spiritual self?
-understand the world more completely?

Once you know your purpose, you can develop your trip plan to meet your needs more effectively.

With Whom to Travel

Are you going alone or with companions? Picking travel companions is a mini step, but it is also a big decision.

Traveling with others can really add enjoyment to your hip trip. You share common experiences, memories and have someone with whom to reflect. Expenses can be shared for things like accommodations and transportation.

Traveling with others offers the challenge of compromise. Consideration needs to be given to the needs of each individual. Decisions may be shared as to itinerary, pace and travel style. A short trip together before embarking on a long sojourn can help identify issues that need to be addressed.

Traveling alone offers you complete freedom to decide where, when, how and why to go. You can be more spontaneous with less compromise. However, you can miss the companionship of shared experience and seeing things through another person's eyes.

Where to Travel

Where are you going? Maybe this is obvious, like I am going to visit my mother in ___. But maybe this is a question that needs to be answered.

Make a list of all of the places that you would like to see and experience. Really think about what your passions are in life. What ideas make your heart rate increase? Cross-off ones that are obviously not doable like "Going to the moon!" Highlight the ones that most catch your fancy.

Now use your favorite techniques for making a choice. You can do preliminary research on each area, make a Pros/Cons chart or throw a dart at a map.

Once you make the decision about where to go, the real research begins.

-Check in with your favorite Travel Agent.
-Scour the Internet for opportunities.
-Get a guidebook and read it. Get two.
-Jot notes about the various areas as you read or highlight interesting items so you can easily find them again.

Consider organized tours for specialty interests. Often a tour can get you in to sites and teach you aspects that you could not experience independently. Very often they can get you there cheaper. You can add an independent phase at the beginning or end of your trip if you wish.

When to Travel

This is easy if you have an event around which you are planning such as a festival or a specialty tour. Good advice is to consider traveling on the outer edges of the high season. The deals are usually better, the crowds thinner and the weather is often still good.

How to Make Your Travel Plans

Get a passport now if your trip is international. Set up a fare watcher for airfares if you will be traveling by plane. Rough out an itinerary and a timeline. List your favorite ideas of places to visit and map these out on a map. Cross off the places that range too far off the path, unless one of those is the primary reason that you picked that hip trip. Estimate the time it will take to visit each destination and again cross out the places for which you do not have time.

Rough out a budget for your trip. Again you may need to cross off something that sounds interesting, but is out of your budget.

Always plan your itinerary with the knowledge that you will come back in the future. Don't try to do it all unless you have unlimited time and money. In that case, go for it! But for most of us there will be restraints on time, money or both!

Minimize one night stays. Then you can get a feel for a place and dig a little bit deeper. It takes a lot of time and energy to get from one place to another. Your goal is to BE THERE, alive, alert and engaged.

Conclusion

Planning a trip is simply a series of small steps in which you answer basic questions. Begin now to take these steps and soon you will have planned a super fantastic hip trip!

"Travel Planner: Making Arrangements" addresses packing, what to take, making arrangements for transportation and accommodations.

Which Rate is Best For You? by Atilla Kalender

When booking a hotel, be sure to compare all available rates at the property. Steps include:

• Check all rate classes for the hotel where you wish to stay (usually on the hotel's Web site).

• Compare those prices to offers on major travel providers (visit Booking Buddy to check rates simultaneously). Note that with most of the majors, you'll pay an extra booking fee (typically $5).

• Call the hotel directly (not the central reservations line) to see if better rates are available by phone, mentioning the lowest rate you found.

• If applicable, ask about lowest-price guarantees.

Do a bit of research into the type of property where you're planning on staying. For example, hotels that position themselves as business class (getting most of their income from weekday business travelers) often have lower prices for weekend stays, as Fridays and Saturdays are considered off-peak. Tourist- and luxury-class properties, however, will usually have inflated rates for weekend stays, as those days appeal to leisure travelers. By knowing who the hotel property caters to, and if you have flexibility, you can arrange your trip over dates that will provide the greatest savings.

In addition, if you hold a membership in AAA, AARP, StudentAdvantage or a similar organization, be sure to check if additional discounts are available. Many hotels have partnered with these organizations to offer low rates that may undercut both sale and Internet-only prices.

If you're taking a vacation or need airfare and a rental car in addition to your hotel, consider booking a package rather than each of the components separately. Often rates for bundled vacation packages cost less than if you were to buy each element on its own.

By becoming an informed consumer, doing your research and comparing rates, you'll be able to get the best price for your next hotel stay. While initially this may seem more time-consuming than just calling a hotel and booking a room, the extra money you'll pocket will be well worth it.

How To Find Cheap Airfare by Gina Clark

Flying can be extremely expensive, especially considering how the price of gas has gone up. Maybe you can't imagine the price of a plane ticket, and aren't even considering a vacation. But there are things you can do to find cheap airfare.
First of all, search online to find the cheapest plane tickets. There are many websites that search not only a variety of airlines, but that also search other websites to compare airfare and find you the best price.
If you have kids, make sure you check for special prices for children. Also, look for student discounts when you are searching for airfare. If applicable, check for senior citizen discounts.
When searching for airfare, search dates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sunday mornings. These are the days of slowest air travel. Don't fly on Monday, though, it's the busiest air travel day and tends to be the most expensive.
Look for last minute airfare deals on the Internet, especially if you are looking to fly this summer. You can save up to 50% off. Airlines don't like empty seats. It's better to sell seats for less than to have them empty and not get any money.
If you decide to fly, sign up immediately with that company's frequent flyer program. Even if you fly multiple airlines in one trip, sign up for the program for each airline. Miles that you earn for most airlines never expire and are good throughout your entire lifetime.
These are just a few of the things you can do to find the cheapest airfare. For other ideas about saving money and tips for budget travel, visit my blog below. Don't miss out on a family vacation without at least checking into one.

Airline Travel by John Mehrmann

Rising fuel prices have impacted airline travel. Be prepared, and adjust your plans accordingly.

Continental Airlines plans to slash 3,000 jobs and reduce domestic flights in an effort to reduce operating costs. The cuts include pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, administrative personnel, and management.

"These actions will help Continental survive the crisis," wrote Chairman and Chief Executive Larry Kellner, and President Jeff Smisek, in a letter to Continental's 45,000 employees. In a move to demonstrate a personal response and commitment, the executives also announced that they would forgo incentive pay for the rest of 2008.

It has been estimated that charges for fuel will be $2.3 billion higher in 2008 than in the previous year. Beginning in September, Continental will decrease capacity by 11%, and will remove 67 airplanes from the fleet by the end of 2009.

United Airlines announced 14% reduction of capacity planned for fourth quarter of 2008. United Airlines is cutting 1,600 jobs.

United Airlines said that it will eliminate Ted, the discount arm of the airline launched in 2004. Ted catered to leisure travelers with only coach-class seating, but in the spring of 2009, the 56 Airbus A320's will be reconfigured with first class seats and returned to the United Airlines fleet. At the same time, United Airlines will retire 94 Boeing 747's as unprofitable planes and routes.

Delta announced 10% reduction of capacity in the fourth quarter of 2008.

American Airlines announced plans to reduce capacity by 12% in the fourth quarter of 2008.

As oil prices continue to rise, airlines are forced to respond with fewer flights, fewer routes, less staff, more passengers per plane, and higher prices. Reduced capacity translates to fewer flights, and this means that many of the smaller airports may be the first to feel the pinch. While some travelers may have enjoyed the convenience of smaller airports for proximity or to avoid the crowds of large airports, the availability of flight options may be greatly reduced. Airlines simply cannot afford to move aircraft with empty seats, so expect full flights, or expect that route to be on the chopping block.

In an effort to increase the number of passengers per plane, flights that do not have enough passengers may be cancelled to combine passengers with other flights to the same destination. While many frequent flyers have experienced this interruption in travel plans in the past, it is likely to become commonplace while the airlines adjust to the new demands. When incomplete flights are combined, the result is typically an overbooking situation, which means more passengers than seats. As a result, some passengers may be temporarily stranded in a city overnight, pending an available flight the following day. Overbooking will become even more common as airlines endeavor to keep prices down by filling every seat on the plane.

What does all this mean to you?

Expect full flights. You will be able to tell your grandchildren about the days when you secretly counted the remaining number of individuals boarding the plane in hopes that you would have an empty seat between the window and aisle. Your grandchildren will think that you are making up stories when you tell them about the complimentary meals and movies that you enjoyed on the plane ride. One day the free meals and movies may sound as ridiculous as allowing smoking on a plane, imagine that.

Expect longer delays at security and check-in counters. Yes it is true, security is becoming more efficient, and automated check-in counters are intended to facilitate faster service. Nonetheless, as routes are consolidated and oversold crowds are consolidated into flight patterns that maximize the productivity of reduced staff to handle them, human traffic jams will occur. It is inevitable that consolidation will occur in the battle to control price increases, and in many ways the check-in lines will more often resemble the crowded lines at theme parks, mouse ears and all.

When possible, book direct flights. While this may be slightly more expensive than those connecting flights that enabled you to eat lunch in Houston and dessert in Orlando, it will also decrease your risk of spending an unexpected evening in Texas. When making your travel plans, consider the risk of an unexpected hotel and transportation in a connecting city, while your luggage goes on without you. Try to schedule your travel on morning flights, as opposed to the typical evening business flights, to allow greater opportunity for another flight without an overnight delay. If you do need to book a connecting flight, make sure that you have at least one hour between flights at the connecting airport. Remember that next flight boards thirty minutes before the scheduled flight time, which means that your seat could be on the roulette wheel if there is any delay on your original flight. Take responsibility to check your travel carefully when booking flights, and reduce your risks.

Allow some flexibility in your schedule, just in case you are delayed. Whether your travel is personal or professional, you will get where you need to go, eventually. If all goes well, you will arrive on time, and without incident. In the event that you are delayed, or your plans need to be adjusted, remember to always be courteous to the individual on the other side of the counter. Odds are that the staff member has lost many good friends and colleagues in the workforce reduction, and is now striving to do multiple jobs at once. Have compassion, for they are attempting to resolve the personal challenges for every passenger, every inconvenience, and every emergency that comes over the counter. Show your compassion, and you are more likely to receive a little in return.

As airline travel is impacted, it will have a domino effect on the rest of the travel industry. As prices increase, leisure travel diminishes, and routes are eliminated, so too must car rental companies adjust the inventory of available vehicles at appropriate airports. Consider booking your car well in advance, especially when traveling to a popular destination or busy airport. It will become more likely for car rental agencies to sell out.

The hospitality industry will also be impacted by decreased activity. Although this will be a delayed result, based on the adjusted number of travelers, the good news is that hotels may offer competitive discounts and incentives to retain loyal customers. You should sign-up for programs and be vigilant for special deals.

Those special airline rates for leisure travelers, and the last minute special deals for under $100, are likely to disappear. Prices for all seats are expected to increase, and fewer route options with fuller flights will mean that special discounts will be placed on the endangered species list. And for those hardy business travelers who have saved those frequent flyer miles in hopes of tropical vacation paradise, expect black-out periods and greater advance planning to use those miles in the crowded skies. If fuel prices continue to rise, consider your options to use those accumulated miles this year. Rising costs will force some airlines to introduce even more restrictions on the use of accumulated miles, since these free seats become a liability to cash-flow. Airlines have adjusted the policies on mileage in the past, and are likely to do it again in 2009. Your mileage may not be protected if your carrier of choice is forced to merge, be acquired, or enforce restrictions as a part of an economic reorganization plan. Take a break of the bad news of rising gas prices and fuel charges, and use your miles to go on a well earned vacation while you can still get the most for your miles.

It's not all bad news. If hotels offer special rates, you might find some nice local vacation packages before the end of 2008, and early 2009. Rising fuel prices, reduced routes, and prohibitive restrictions on air travel may encourage more businesses to use teleconferencing, VOIP, and other technology to collaborate over long distances. A little less travel may mean a little more time at home, and that is always a good thing.
