Green Hotels 1 by Barry Loughran

Energy saving has become more and more popular in recent times with everyone possible trying to conserve energy in a bid to 'save the planet'. As the world opens it eyes to the ongoing energy epidemic, we are seeing more business sectors becoming greener, the latest being hotel chains around the world.

The greener option is becoming more attractive today when choosing your consumer options, which has resulted in a boom in the number of green energy companies or existing companies operating in a greener way of life.

Whether it's shutting the doors quicker on the trains, using recyclable materials, recycling materials or simply turning the electricity off at night, if a company is seen to be helping the energy situation, a consumer will be more attracted to their service or product.

Not only will the 'green' label help market the company but it will also reduce their energy costs enabling the company to pass on savings to the consumer.

One of the new players to follow suit are the hotels, normally, people enjoy staying at hotels as it is a place were worrying about your energy wastage are non-existent. We take for granted things like there is always a mini fridge which is constantly on which we never use, showers are better quality so we stay in longer or even leaving the 42inch widescreen on when leaving the room.

Hotels chains around the world have grasped this concept with changes already starting to take place. Many chains have introduced measures to conserve their energy or even produce their own.

If you compare hotels you can save money and once the hotels are saving enough money through their actions, they will be able to charge less for the rooms resulting in cheap hotel prices worldwide.
