Introduction

In the year 1934, Harrow went on to become a division of the urban region of Middlesex. However, on 4th of May 1954, this urban region gained the ranks of municipal borough that later went on to be London Borough of Harrow. Harrow is in fact located in the North West parts of London and borders Hertfordshire. This region is quite near by to the most famous West End in London. Harrow is well known for the prestigious Harrow Boys School which was founded in the year 1572. This school has actually educated almost seven prime ministers which includes Sir Winston Churchill the British Prime Minister and Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India.

Important Place in Harrow

There are many famous churches in Harrow and among them it St Mary's Church which is one of the last enduring Saxon Churches in England. The place called Stanmore in Harrow has two of the well renowned churches in England namely St John the Evangelist Church and St Lawrence Church. St John the Evangelist Church is said to be one of the most idealistic ruins in England, the Prime Minster of Victoria Lord Aberdeen's tomb was lately discovered in this church's basement. St Lawrence Church is listed in grade one buildings and is one of the Baroques painted Churches that exists today. The ornate ceilings and walls were in fact painted by a French artist named Laguerre.

Sir Winston Churchill and James Blunt studied in The Harrow Boys School similarly Tom Fletcher, Peter Andrea and Billy Idol all were born in Harrow while Ronnie Barker and Sir Elton John lived in Pinner. Modern Harrow In this present day situation Harrow is said to be a multinational suburb that attracts people from across the whole world making it ethnically different. Almost 41.2 percent of the entire population of Harrow comes from the cultural community and the largest group comes from the Gujarat community. This region also has a developing number of settlers from Ireland, Eastern Europe and Somalia. However, a huge number of people from the Jewish community reside in Stanmore and Hatch End.

There are two most important shopping centers in Harrow which include St George's Shopping Centre and St Ann's Shopping Centre. St George's Shopping Centre is s small mall which has a gym and 9 cinema halls which was in fact opened by well known actress Catherine Zeta Jones. St Ann's Shopping Centre was originally opened in the year 1987 by Princess Diana. Pinner a small city in Harrow possesses a farmers market where every Sunday people can buy fresh vegetables and fruits including meat and lost more. Harrow is even believed to be the home for Northwick Park Hospital and University of Westminster. Harrow also has several first class and economical restaurants that cater every tourist visiting this place. One can choose from local cuisine to international cuisine and can enjoy one of the best traditional pub foods in these restaurants.
